No Worries... Another way, another time!

As most of you know by now, I did not make the first cut of American Idol. Truthfully, I am ok with the result. It was a very unique experience and I wouldn't take it back! It gave me the courage I needed to continue!

On Saturday, Matt and I headed to Texas Stadium to wait in line, just to register, for the auditions Monday. We arrived at 5:30 AM, waited until 10:00 AM, and left with hope, a ticket, and green and yellow wristbands.

We headed back Monday morning, arriving at 4:15 AM. We sat for over 4 hours, just to enter the stadium and sit, once again. I was on FOX 4 news (in the background), and I met tons of cool people. We sat next to the funniest people! As we sat, for a total of 12 hours, we were finally called to walk on the field. We, again, waited in a line and were put in groups of 4. My group headed to table 10. As we moved forward, not one person was asked to move on to the next round... I guess that should have tipped me off ;-) Anyway, my group was up. The nervous engergy started bubbling in the stomach, but I pushed it down, with a smile on my face and my hot legs, staring at the judges! The first girl went up, she was a small black girl with a pink cast. She sang, and to be honest, I said to myself.... I got this in the bag!! I walked up, sang "Orange Colored Sky" by Nat King Cole, they said awesome, can you sing something else. I sand Amy Winehouse "Rehab", as soon as I started, the girl judge, said I knew you were going to sing that... you have the perfect voice for it! As I sang my song, I knew I had nailed it. I didn't flail my arms, didn't jump around or dance, I just knew I had sang those songs to the absolute best of my ability. I stepped back, and waited for the other 2 to sing. There was a tall black gentleman, who sounded, ok, and another, very small girl, maybe 17 at the oldest!!

As I waited ther I could feel my heart pounding! It was crazy. Then they called all 4 of us up to the table. We walked up there, and the girl whispered to the guy. The guy then said, thanks for standing in the heat, we are going to pass. I was about to grab my purse and leave, when the girl told the smallest girl, keep working, your just a little too young. Then she turned to me and said you have a phenominal voice! Show up in Charleston and work on your stage presence! We will definetly pass you through!

I left, upbeat, sweaty and exhausted!! My worst fear, of having them tell me I was mediocer went away, when she told me I was great.

Matt wants us to head to Philly, for the last stop, on the audition run. I'll let you know if it happens. Now I know, show up with goofy choreography and the same song. I should be good!

Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So La, Ti, AAAHHHH!

Holy Moly! I can't believe that tomorrow I will be trying out for American Idol. I tried out the first year and didn't even make the first cut. My friend Steph, dragged me to this "singing audition." It was crazy, we had no idea what it was, just this little singing show. Now, it is the biggest deal and it seems every person and their mother are trying out! I don't have any doubt in my training or my voice, you just never know what they are looking for.
I just can't believe how nervous I am. The butterflys are building in my stomach, the nerves tingeling, and I am so excited at the same time! Eeehhh!
My wonderful husband keeps telling me I am going to Hollywood, and I want to beleive him SO badly. I just can't be sure. Everyone keeps telling me to calm, and be myself, so that is my goal. Walk in there, with a big smile and blow them away. I'll keep you posted and let you know what happens.

Laundry Conspiracy...

All you girls know, that no matter how hard we try, there is always something to do around the house!! My husband, God Bless him, lets me buy oodles and oodles of clothes! I then, return the favor, by purchasing, oodles of clothes for him! In other words we have too many clothes and not enough space to put them. Because we have so many, it is easy to just put something on for a day, and throw it in the hamper.

Unfortunately, that leaves me with piles of laundry that would rival a prison. At least there's are all one color :) We have a brown pile, a red/pink pile, blue, black and jean pile. Trust me, I could go on! We even have a dry clean pile.

Everyday, I try and do a load here and there... nothing like you gals with kids out there. Just a load to get us through the week with clean sheets and clean underwear. The problem is, the more I clean, the more gets dirty!

I am sure you all feel my pain!

It just seems, no matter how many clothes I give away, sell or just throw out. There is always laundry to do!

Here's to you Chad...

I don't even know where to begin. I guess from the beginning...

I moved here in 2000, I got a job as a waitress and met my best friend, Steph. On my 19th birthday party we ran into a couple of guys, who happened to have gone to high school with Steph. Chad and M(aka HUBS). We all know what later happened with M:) Chad, on the other hand, is a different story... I remember we all meet, over a game of pool, and there was just something unique about him. Something I had never met in anyone, in Texas. He was wordly, had a great personality and loved the same things I did. We were the best of friends, from day one.

I remember we used to do everything together. We used to take Neil (his black lab) to the vet, & on walks. We used to go grocery shopping, out to eat and golfing. Litterally, we were inseperable. There was never a romantic connection, just an amazing friendship.

As I look back, I realize that Chad has been at almost every important moment in my life. He was the best man at our wedding, he was the first one we called when we found out we were pregnant, and he was the first one to comfort me (besides my loving hubs, M) when we found out we had lost the baby.

Chad has been an amazing friend to both M and I! M has known him for 30 years, I have known him for 7, but it would not have been the same had we all not shared those moments.

This Saturday Chad leaves for Med School, near Houston. Although it is only a 5 hour drive, I feel as though I am losing, one of my very best friends!

All the luck in the world, to you Dr H! You will be greatly missed!

The Last My Mistress Show

When I was a little girl, all I wanted to do was Sing! I sang in the shower, in the pool, and anywhere where anyone would listen! About 2 years ago, some friends asked if we wanted to start a band. I had NO IDEA what I was getting myself into. Practice twice a week. Writing every moment you have available and singing like you were in front of 3,ooo people.

We started My Mistress in January of 2005. We had no songs, no real idea of what music we would play and most of all... No Name.

We decided on a name, and ran with it!

The past 2 years we have played for over 1,ooo people. Written more songs than we know what to do with and had more fun than anyone around!

I love the guys, I love the music and most of all I am sad to see My Mistress go!

My Near Death Experience

As you all know M and I were very excited to announce our pregnancy near Mothers day. Our joy then turned to worry when I found out I was having a misscarriage. As I proceded to go to my OB every 2 days to make sure everything was clearing on its own, I then found out I had a tubal pregnancy. Unfortuntaly the pregnancy did not clear on it's own and on Thursday night I found myself curled on the floor, rithing in pain. Needless to say M and I ended up in the ER. Over a long talk with my Gyno we decided on having a routine laproscopy. We scheduled the procedure for the next morning and everything went as planned.

Unfortunately, when they were in there they could not find the tubal pregnancy... so they sewed me up and gave me a shot of Methotrexate to be sure everything was cleared, and I was in no danger of having a rupture. By that afternoon I was discharged, trying to drink some homemade chicken soup, from my momma, and watching a movie with M. In the early evening I started feeling cold and I was shaking so M got me a huge comfortor. He said when he touched my leg I was burning up. He took my temp and it was 101.3, he called the doc, gave me some meds and waited 45 min. After a good 45 min and my momma driving 45min, to be by my side, my temp was upto 102.1. We piled in the cars and headed for the ER, yet again.

As I sat in the waiting room I thought, let's just leave, its just a fever, I am fine!! My mom wouldn't let us, so we were admitted. As we sat in the ER with more IV's, and more tests, when I realized something was terribly wrong.
By the next morning my fever had risen to 103.4 and it wasn't stopping there. I was retaining all the liquid they were giving me so I looked like a balloon, and I couldn't walk or stand due to the lap. I was miserable, crying and no one could figure out what was wrong. I sat in the hospital bed, waiting for someone to figure something out, when my fever spiked to 104.1. The OB sent an internist, who sent an infectious disease guy, who sent a surgeon. We waited for one test to see if I had colitious, and unfortuntaly it was negative.

We had to do exploritory surgery.

When I was wheeled down to the OR I was feeling antzy but ok, that I was good hands. The next thing I rememeber is waking up feeling like a 400 lb man was sitting on my chest, screaming for my doc and trying to grasp someone's hand. I woke up early the next morning with M sitting next to me with this very solomn look on his face and rubbing my hand. I didn't want to know what had happened but I had to ask. He told me they had removed my Gallblater and I was in the ICU. It hadn't gone as planned. I had stiches from my sternum to my bellybutton, not to mention the 3 inscisions from the lap. I couldn'tcry b/c it hurt too bad and I didn't know what to do. We just sat therewatching the news.

My dad, friends and all family (even my grandaddy and aunt, that drove 2000miles to see me) stayed with me. Over the course of 3 days, being in ICU, I got a little better. Eventually we were wheeled to Med/Surg room where I have been for the past 4 days.

As of now most of my tubes are out. I walked around the unit yesterday and ate a whole grape popsicle. I thought to myself, if you are this excited about walking in a square and eating a popsicle, I should be thankful that I am still alive.

Thanks to everyone who have sent flowers, come by and given cards and balloons. I beleive the power of prayer pulled me through and all of you had a huge part. Thank you for being you! God Bless!
