Sailors Only!

Hello fellow bloggers, freaders and friends! Today, is Ash Wednesday and with that comes Lent!

Even if your not Catholic you know about Lent.

You have to give up something and hopefully (and with the power of prayer) keep that up unitl Easter. It is just a little something we can do to show our appreciation for what Jesus did for us.

With that said... this year I have decided to give up...

CUSSING!

Holy Mother! I am like a female sailor over here. I don't know what it is, but recently, I have become a potty mouth :(

So... now that Mr Man is picking up on everything and anything we do I thought this would be prime opportunity to give it up! Hopefully for good, but AT LEAST until Easter!

What are you giving up for Lent?

We're In the Money!!

WOOT!

Well, not really... but I did GET THE JOB!

Score!

I start next Wednesday and we already registered Mr Man for daycare. It was so cute today, when he went into the classroom (while we were registering) he freaked out at first, then just went right to the teacher and gave her a big smile.

As soon as we walked out the door (and peeked back in) he was happily playing on the ground with the other babies, waving bye bye.

He starts Monday and we are going to do 2 half days and on Wednesday he is going to be full on.

I am really excited about this new position. I think there will be challenges, as in anything, but I think it will be good for B to get out there and meet new people and for Mommy to have some "mommy time!"

So much stuff...

I don't even know where to begin?!

Lets see...

I have been interviewing for jobs recently, and it looks as though I may have found one. It is not in the area I wanted, but it is close to my friends, and the hours are brilliant, so we will see how it goes. I should know if I got it Wednesday? Wish me luck.

Mr Man stayed at daycare (I use that term loosely, as it is more of a school than anything) for 3 hours today and did marvelously! The only time he cried was when he saw me at the end, and I guess he realized I had been gone? But other than that I am thrilled they are going to teach him sign language and Spanish and he is going to get some structure, not to mention tons of playtime with other kiddos. Woot!

I got a new car. I needed to get rid of my convertible (you know convertible + baby = no bueno) and Hubs and I have been looking for a while, and I finally found one. The payment is right on, it is an SUV and Mr Man can sit in the middle (the BEST place for carseats, in case you didn't know). All good! It is white and it is another Mitsubishi and it rocks!

Hmmm.... what else?

Nothing I guess. I just feel like I have been running around like a chicken with its head cut off, but I know I have been accomplishing things, so it makes me feel alright.

I guess I'll write more when I know about the job. Ciao Darlings!

SoapBox... step here!

*Stepping on soapbox...*

I am so sick of American Idol picking girls and guys because they look good. PEOPLE, they have to be able to sing, it is a freaking singing competition.

OMG - we get it, there are hot chicks out there, but that does NOT give them the right to put these crappy ass singers out there, pretending to sing. BLUGH!

Seriously, what the heck are you thinking?

I will say Alexis Grace - you freaking rocked!

And Danny Gokey - can you just win already? I heart you!!

10 MONTHS!

Today, my love bug, you are 10 months old. Only 2 more months and you will turn the big 1!!

B, you have changed my outlook on life! You have a personality that is un-rivaled. You find the good in everyone you meet, and you absolutely light my world!

At 10 Months you are doing so many new things:

  • You are walking everywhere!
  • You are pushing trucks and books and remotes around the floor
  • You find it extremely amusing to pull the blankets, pillows and anything you can get your hands on, off of the couch
  • You love to eat Macaroni (see above picture)
  • You talk to me all day, however, you refuse to use the word Momma?!?
  • You push the limits. If you are not supposed to go somewhere or eat something, you do it... all the time!
  • You LOVE music. All music!
  • You sing and dance
  • You give kisses when asked
  • And you always smile, then speed crawl to Mommy or Daddy when we walk in the room

B, I never knew how amazingly tired you could make me, I never knew how much energy your little body could give me, and I never pictured love embodied like this.

Love you Mr Man!!! Happy 10 Month birthday!!

Having a tough time?

Figuring out what to do for Valentines day??

I did this last year here

But this year, I found some new ideas... enjoy!

Pucker Up!
Last year at valentine's, I got a big glass pickle jar from a restaurant, scrubbed it clean, and painted the jar with flowers, hearts, sunshine, clouds, etc. (that may be a touch gay... but whatever)

Then I got a bunch of "fancy" doodle pads and began writing reasons & reminders of how & why I love my husband. It didn't stop there-- I began collecting little poems, quotes, and song lyrics to add to the pot.

When my husband is having a rough day he can open the lid and reach in for a "boost". This jar was easy to make and VERY personal, and he enjoys it year 'round. I love to collect stuff for the jar as well!

Tell the world!

One year when we had no money, my husband spelled "I love you Susan Jo" with cutout letters of cardboard and put it on our garage door. When I came home from work, that was there for all the world to see. He was used to coming up with creative idea's on a budget :-)

Well, this year was no different, we live in Ohio, where there is usually snow on the ground in February. So, my hubby got a red can of spray paint (he had already) and out in our pasture, he wrote his Valentine message to me! It was beautiful! Bright red paint on the glistening snow saying "I love you, the love of my life!" The people he worked with thought it was so neat, the newspaper came and took a picture and it was in the evening news! It is one of my most memorable gifts ever.

Dressing up and staying in!

My husband and I had been married for only 5 months on our first Valentine's together. We really didn't have much money to spend on presents, and my husband is not creative at all, so I knew I would have to come up with something if I want a romantic Valentine's.

So the week before the 14th we decided that we were not going to buy presents, instead we would make the day special by doing something together. Because we are both working, and too tired in the evening to cook, we bought our dinners from a lady, so dinner was all ready.

When we got home from work, we dressed... and I mean dressed. I wore my most beautiful black evening dress, and he wore a black suit and white shirt (he looked so sexy)... While I was doing my hair and my make-up (as if we were going to a fancy place), he quickly set the table, lit the candles, and put on some soft music. We ended up dancing and sitting on the couch, telling each other how much we loved the other one, and in the end it was the most romantic evening of my life. *Le Swoon!*

Memories... at the corner of my mind...

The most creative thing I've ever done for Valentine's Day, is decorate a huge piece of white poster board with memories. I took candy wrappers that I saved from the first date, as well as love notes received from my honey, a receipt from a date that I paid for (since he was broke), a stuffed animal from one of those claw machines (which cost my beloved at least $25 to win), movie stubs, and other little reminders of the special times spent together. I safety-pinned the items in the shape of a heart.

Any Brilliant Valentines day ideas??

Oh Man!

Since Valentines day is right around the corner, I guess I have been noticing how un-loved I am lately :(

Some people have like 900 followers, unfortunately for me... I have 7. Although I LOVE all 7 of you, it still makes me sad.

Not to mention the lack of comments has begun to depress me :(

Where has all the love gone?

This is so me...

WOW!

You are a Katharine -- "I am happy and open to new things"

Katharines are energetic, lively, and optimistic. They want to contribute to the world.

How to Get Along with Me

* Give me companionship, affection, and freedom.
* Engage with me in stimulating conversation and laughter.
* Appreciate my grand visions and listen to my stories.
* Don't try to change my style. Accept me the way I am.
* Be responsible for youself. I dislike clingy or needy people.
* Don't tell me what to do.

What I Like About Being a Katharine
* being optimistic and not letting life's troubles get me down
* being spontaneous and free-spirited
* being outspoken and outrageous. It's part of the fun.
* being generous and trying to make the world a better place
* having the guts to take risks and to try exciting adventures
* having such varied interests and abilities

What's Hard About Being a Katharine
* not having enough time to do all the things I want
* not completing things I start
* not being able to profit from the benefits that come from specializing; not making a commitment to a career
* having a tendency to be ungrounded; getting lost in plans or fantasies
* feeling confined when I'm in a one-to-one relationship

Katharines as Children Often
* are action oriented and adventuresome
* drum up excitement
* prefer being with other children to being alone
* finesse their way around adults
* dream of the freedom they'll have when they grow up

Katharines as Parents
* are often enthusiastic and generous
* want their children to be exposed to many adventures in life
* may be too busy with their own activities to be attentive

Did you know?

That when a man and woman kiss, it sends shivers down the spine? It actually burns calories to kiss! The man feels energized and the woman feels relaxed. Huh?? Who knew?

Men who kiss their wives in the morning live five years longer than those who don't.

People are more likely to tilt their heads to the right when kissing instead of the left (65 percent of people go to the right!)

Falling in love can induce a calming effect on the body and mind and raises levels of nerve growth factor for about a year, which helps to restore the nervous system and improves the lover's memory.

Brain scans show that people who view photos of a beloved experience an activation of the caudate — the part of the brain involving cravings.

Philadelphia International Airport finished as the No. 1 best airport for making a love connection, according to an online survey.

According to mathematical theory, we should date a dozen people before choosing a long-term partner; that provides the best chance that you'll make a love match

and my personal favorite...

A man's beard grows fastest when he anticipates sex.

I need a replacement...

What's the warranty on this thing?

Well, at least that's what my parents should've asked when I was born.

Today, I am sitting at home, in my bed, dosed on large amounts of IBProfen, trying to ice my back. It seems leaning over and pulling a 22lb human onto your lap may not be that great of an idea :)

Yesterday, while trying to maneuver Mr Man, I pulled my back. And since I already have a mild case of scoliosis, it really did a number on me.

I went to the chiropractor, only for him to tell me I am royally screwed and I should stay in bed. Boo!

So, my awesome aunt in-law is over, taking care of Mr Man, while I rest in my bed.

Darn, I just need an upgrade? Why hasn't Dr Rey put together some sort of upgrade package? He'd be a bazillionaire! Maybe I should email him... any ideas on his email address?

Awww yeeeeahhh, we got that down!

So... I know I said B was taking steps, but this is like... full. on. walking!

There is not stopping the little monster now :)

A Poem...

Since Valentines Day is right around the corner, I thought I would share with you my favorite poem.

The Invitation

It doesn't interest me what you do for a living.
I want to know what you ache for
and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing.
It doesn't interest me how old you are.
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love
for your dream
for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon...I want to know if you have touched the centre of your own sorrow
if you have been opened by life's betrayals
or have become shrivelled and closed
from fear of further pain.

I want to know if you can sit with pain
mine or your own
without moving to hide it
or fade itor fix it.

I want to know if you can be with joy
mine or your own
if you can dance with wildness
and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes
without cautioning us to
be careful
be realistic
remember the limitations of being human.

It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me is true.
I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself.
If you can bear the accusation of betrayal
and not betray your own soul.

If you can be faithless
and therefore trustworthy.

I want to know if you can see Beauty
even when it is not pretty
every day.
And if you can source your own life from its presence.

I want to know if you can live with failure
yours and mine
and still stand at the edge of the lake
and shout to the silver of the full moon,"Yes."It doesn't interest me
to know where you live or how much money you have.

I want to know if you can get up
after the night of grief and despair
weary and bruised to the bone
and do what needs to be done to feed the children.

It doesn't interest me who you know
or how you came to be here.

I want to know if you will stand
in the centre of the fire
with me
and not shrink back.

It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom
you have studied.
I want to know what sustains you
from the inside
when all else falls away.

I want to know if you can be alone with yourself
and if you truly like the company you keep
in the empty moments.
